Private 1st Class Arthur Jackson served with the Marine Corps during World War II. On the South Pacific island of Peleliu, Private Jackson launched a single man assault that took out 50 enemy men and resulted in a successful outcome of the operation.

 

robert nett - army; ww2
1st Lieutenant Robert Nett served with the Army National Guard during World War II. During an operation on the island of Leyte in the Phillipines in 1944, Nett was shot twice -- once in the neck and once in his right lung. Nett fought through these serious injuries to help lead his unit to a victory.

After the news of Hiroshima broke, Jack Lucas, 14 year old who just graduated from the 8th grade, took matters into his own hands. Forging his mother's signature on consent papers, Jack jumped on the back of a train, full of solders headed to the war. He broke ranks to get into the heat of combat where he threw himself on a grenade to save his comrades.
